It seems as if the mechanism in our brains, that makes used neural connections last, and unused ones dissipate, is closely related to how we are able to remember. There is no specific bounded location where our memories are stored, that would correspond to the hard-drive in a computer. Memory could instead be understood as something that is distributed throughout our entire brains, or maybe even our bodies, where it is kept alive as patterns of neural activation.
